Considered to be one of Hemingway’s greatest work, this book is written in the first-person narrative of Fredric Henry, an American enlisted in the Italian army’s ambulance corp during World War I. This is inspired by Hemingway’s own experience during the war and he provides deep insight on the same. A love affair between the protagonist and an English nurse Catherine Barkley is the highlight of the novel. Some people might find the ending unsatisfactory but it is still a great read.
