An aspiring actress Ganga is lured to come to Bombay with her lover but is sold off to a brothel there. Subdued in all forms, she rises like a phoenix through forming important connections and staunch self-confidence. Her journey from the head of a brothel to fighting for elections as the area President is wonderfully depicted. The movie also sheds light on the plight of the prostitute and their living conditions.
