Set in the Japanese rural landscape with lush forests, pristine rivers and a simplistic lifestyle. A professor and his young daughters move into their new home where the girls discover a strange dust house spirit who takes them to a tree where they find two more spirits one of which is called Totoro. They become friends with them as the girls are coping with the illness of their mother who is in hospital. This move is wondrous to behold and has an amazing message of friendship.
