Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is a poor boy living in a slum in Paris during the eighteenth century and has one extraordinary gift which is an abnormally strong sense of smell. He dreams of creating an ultimate perfume and learns the art of perfumery from a renowned perfumer. He does not stop at creating perfumes with just oils and herbs but uses the essence of objects as well. He then becomes enamoured to use the scent of beautiful virgin girls but at the price of murdering them.
