Various children's games from the '70s and '80s are organized for the participants. But only one of them will take home $38 million. Let the games begin!

Highlights

The series begins with the personal story of Seong Gi-Hun. He is a divorced man with an unsuccessful financial life. Seong Gi-Hun lives with his aged mom and he is completely dependent on her. But a mysterious man arrives near him in a metro station, thus inviting him to play a game with him. The man also invites him to a far-off place to win prize money worth $38 billion. This is the same scenario that occurs with many debt-ridden people. Finally, a lot of people arrive at the far deserted islands which are away from the normal world and the judgmental society. Various games are introduced to them one by one. These games date back to the era of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Moreover, they are the traditional South Korean games that children play in their childhood.

All the participants are made to play these games but with a twist. If any participant makes a mistake in the game they are shot dead right away. This creates panic among the whole pack of the participants. But soon all of them are reminded of the reason behind their participation. Moreover, even the majority of the people continue playing the games in financial desperation. Slowly all the people try to learn survival techniques and form their own groups or teams. Seong Gi-Hun is reunited with his childhood friend. Both try to overcome those bizarre survival games for the prize money. But with dozens of participants getting killed in every game, will Seong Gi-Hun and his close group survive the test of time?

Positives

The central character of Seong Gi-Hun is portrayed by Jung-Jae Lee. And Mr Lee just aces the whole character with his skills. From being humorous to emotional, Jung-Jae Lee does it all up to the mark. Even the supporting characters have done a worthy job.

Squid Game has become a very popular series worldwide. And the primary reason revolves around its unique storyline. The writer and director have come with a brilliant story and script that is very different in nature.

The series is also very visually appealing. The costumes, landscapes, lighting have dwelled for the right amount. And this just makes the watching experience even more entertaining and appealing.

Negative

The nature of Squid Games' storyline involves a lot of bloodsheds and emotional trauma. But the way the creators have glorified bloody murders with so much graphic detailing that it becomes very terrifying and problematic. The level of graphic scenes and the detailing is just a turn-off.

Conclusion

Squid Game is a unique series with a different storyline but unfortunately, it serves only a section of the audience and not everyone. Plus the graphic scenes are very disturbing. Watch this one at your own comfort.
