Synopsis

The Suicide Squad is back with a bang but with a new set of characters. The supervillains including Harley Quinn and Peacemaker with others are brought together under the secretive Task Force X to take down the evil forces in the island nation of Corto Maltese. Their battle is now with a never seen before the gigantic creature. A lot of new characters from the D.C comics are introduced in the new movie. A must watch for every D.C fan.

Highlights

The Suicide Squad is back again after it is called on by the secret agent for a mission to protect the people and interests of the United States. The secretive task force X is headed by Amanda Waller who is as ruthless as she was in the first part of Suicide Squad. She brings in Bloodsport to lead the squad into the mission. New members, Peacemaker and Ratcatcher are excited for the new mission but not as much as Harley Quinn. The group has to destroy an experimental mission of a psychopath scientist. But as soon as the team enters the Corto Maltese nation, they are surrounded by the army. Harley Quinn is taken hostage while some manage to escape.

However, Rick Flag joins hands with the local militia who wishes to overthrow the dictatorial government. Harley Quinn is finally out after killing the President. The whole Squad is together and they capture the psycho scientist Gaius Grieves. But it is all too late since the monster that Grieves created is out. The monster is on a rampage, killing each and everyone in the city. He wants to control the city and he is already on his way in doing that. The gigantic starfish monster is impossible to stop but it is the Suicide Squad that turns impossible to possible. But can they stop this starfish monster who has his own army of starfish?

Positives

A lot of new characters are added after the first part of the Suicide Squad. It is refreshing to see the new characters. Big names like John Cena have been brought in. The uniqueness of every character is one of the strongest aspects of this movie, take that of Peacemaker and Ratcatcher. While as usual Harley Quinn's character stands out among the crowd. Margot Robbie is certainly a gem of an actress.

The movie has everything in it. It has comedy, emotional aspects, and action sequences. This one should be called a complete package. DC has taken a cue from marvel to make a great ensemble movie with a blend of many genres.

Negatives

Despite the movie being a complete package, the truth is that it is a very dark story. The PR agencies and media houses portray it as a comedy-filled, funny action movie, but it is not. You will see many characters dying a painful death in the movie and it is sad.

I do not understand why movies in the modern day have so many blood and graphic scenes. Suicide Squad 2 is filled with so many scenes like that and not many viewers will like that. The amount of detail they go into killing and cutting the head and other body parts is shocking and pathetic.

Conclusion

The Suicide Squad 2 has its own ups and downs, but the movie is worth watching for its action-packed funny yet dark storyline.

Rating - 4/5
