The story is set in British India devastated by the Spanish flu and the loss of Indian soldiers in the first world war. Padma, a young lion-hearted woman believing in the Gandhian ideology of satyagraha and ahimsa seeks the help of Dr Chalapathi, to save her injured friend. Chalapathi, unlike Padma is an ardent supporter of the Nizam of Hyderabad. The show skillfully sketches the Indian freedom struggle from the point of view of those under the Nizam's rule.
